Fellowship Overview
Austin Retina is committed to enhancing the lives in our community and providing world class care to our patients. In order to align with this mission we have decided to initiate a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship program.
The Austin Retina Fellowship is a two-year, AUPO-certified vitreoretinal fellowship that is designed for physicians who have completed a residency program in ophthalmology. Fellows will experience high volume outpatient clinical and surgical care, inpatient consultation, and didactic learning. Academic research is strongly encouraged; fellows will have the opportunity to conduct research for publication and presentation at national conferences. While fellows will predominantly rotate with the Austin Retina Associate faculty, fellows will have dedicated time to engage with the ophthalmology residents of the University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School.
“The Dell Medical School at University of Texas Austin is thrilled to collaborate with Austin Retina Associates to train the future leaders of Retina.”— Jane Edmond, MD – Chair of Ophthalmology at Dell Medical School
Program Leadership
The vitreoretinal faculty at Austin Retina Associates have completed training at the nation's top programs. We cover all vitreoretinal subspecialties including ocular oncology, uveitis, pediatric retina, medical retina, and surgical retina. Upon completion of this training, fellows will be broadly trained to diagnose and manage a variety of vitreoretinal diseases.
